Congressman Troy E. Nehls has addressed several national issues in recent posts on his social media account, including security at the U.S. Capitol, acts of heroism by fellow lawmakers, and the ongoing pilot shortage affecting air travel.

On September 18, 2025, Nehls questioned the preparedness of authorities during the January 6 events at the Capitol. He wrote, “Why was the U.S. Capitol so ill-prepared on J6? The @J6Select subcommittee will follow the facts and get the answers the American people deserve. We will expose the TRUTH. @BreannaMorello @InfowarsJournal”.

Later that day, he praised Congressman Van Orden for assisting a child in distress while traveling. Nehls posted on September 18, 2025: “.@RepVanOrden is a true Good Samaritan. While traveling with his wife, Mr. Van Orden’s combat training kicked in to save a young boy’s life. May the actions of Mr. Van Orden inspire all Americans to lend a helping hand to those in need. I’m proud to call him a friend.”

On September 19, 2025, Nehls turned his attention to challenges facing air travel and announced legislative action aimed at addressing pilot shortages: “Air travel is hitting record highs, and we have a glaring pilot shortage in our country. That’s why I’m reintroducing the Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act. We must do the right thing and keep our experienced pilots in the air.”

Troy Nehls has represented Texas’s 22nd congressional district since first winning election in 2020 against Sri Preston Kulkarni with just over half of the vote. In subsequent elections—2022 against Jamie Jordan and 2024 against Marquette Greene-Scott—he secured reelection by wider margins.
