Congressman Troy E. Nehls, who represents Texas’s 22nd District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing national security and government spending.
On July 21, 2025, Nehls praised former President Trump’s administration for its approach to border security. He wrote, “We are witnessing the Great American Comeback. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and his administration, we have the most secure border in American history. Promises made, promises kept.”
The following day, Nehls criticized former Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg regarding federal spending priorities. In a post dated July 22, 2025, he stated, “Former DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg spent $80B on woke DEI efforts. Not on modernizing our nation’s outdated air traffic control system. Priorities!”
Later that same day, Nehls commented on remarks by Democratic Representative Yvette Clark with a brief statement: “Wow. Democrat Rep. Yvette Clark said the quiet part out loud.”
Troy Nehls has served as the representative for Texas’s 22nd District since 2021 after succeeding Pete Olson. Born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in 1968 and currently residing in Richmond, Nehls holds a BA from Liberty University.
