Nehls has represented his district through several election cycles. In the 2020 general election, he defeated Sri Preston Kulkarni by earning approximately 51.5% of the vote compared to Kulkarni’s 44.6%. In subsequent elections, he maintained or increased his margin of victory—winning against Jamie Jordan in 2022 with about 62.2% of the vote and defeating Marquette Greene-Scott in 2024 with around 62.1%.
