Congressman Troy E. Nehls, a Republican who has won several recent elections in Texas, used his social media platform to comment on border security, federal law enforcement, and proposed healthcare legislation in a series of posts between October 6 and October 7, 2025.
On October 6, Nehls addressed legislative measures regarding Medicaid eligibility for undocumented immigrants. He stated: “FACT: The One Big Beautiful Bill implemented safeguards to prevent illegal aliens from receiving Medicaid. Shutdown Schumer’s $1.5 TRILLION proposal would repeal that measure. Democrats want you to bank roll illegal aliens’ healthcare. Let that sink in.”
Later the same day, Nehls commented on concerns about federal law enforcement agencies: “This should disturb every American. We must restore full faith in our federal law enforcement agencies and ensure that they are NEVER weaponized against the American people or any political opponent. Keep exposing the truth, @FBIDirectorKash.”
On October 7, he referenced border security under former President Trump: “Illegal crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border hit the lowest level in over 50 years under President Trump’s leadership. Turns out that enforcing our nation’s laws and empowering our Border Patrol agents to do their jobs leads to good results. We just needed a new President.”
Nehls has served as a U.S. Congressman since winning his seat in 2020 against Sri Preston Kulkarni with 51.5% of the vote, followed by re-election victories over Jamie Jordan in 2022 with 62.2% and Marquette Greene-Scott in 2024 with 62.1%. These electoral wins have solidified his position as a representative for Texas’s congressional district.
