Congressman Troy E. Nehls, who has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 22nd congressional district since 2021, posted a series of messages on his social media account between August 7 and August 8, 2025. The tweets address topics ranging from trade policy to national remembrance and immigration.

On August 7, Nehls credited former President Trump with multiple international agreements, stating, “President Trump has secured eight historic trade deals:

—European Union
—South Korea
—Pakistan
—Japan
—Indonesia
—Philippines
—China
—United Kingdom

The days of America being ripped off are over.

Thank you, President Trump!”

Later that day, Nehls marked National Purple Heart Day with a tribute to military service members: “Freedom isn’t free.

On this National Purple Heart Day, we remember the brave heroes who gave so much to defend our great country.

Today and every day, we are grateful for the sacrifices made by those who have selflessly served our nation. ” (August 7).

The following day, he commented on census policy regarding undocumented immigrants: “I agree with you, Mr. President.

Illegal aliens shouldn’t be counted in the Census.

Period.” (August 8).

Nehls has maintained a strong electoral record in recent years. In the 2020 general election, he defeated Sri Preston Kulkarni with 51.5% of the vote. He secured re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Jamie Jordan and Marquette Greene-Scott respectively, winning each contest with more than sixty percent of the vote.
