Congressman Troy E. Nehls, who represents Texas’s 22nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 23, 2025, addressing issues related to the Russia investigation and federal spending on wildlife management.
On July 23, 2025, Nehls stated: “DNI Tulsi Gabbard exposed what we all knew: the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax was just that—a HOAX. Everyone involved in this election interference should be held accountable.”
Later that day, he referenced his prior questioning of John Durham regarding the same topic: “FLASHBACK: In 2023, I questioned John Durham about the Russia hoax. It all happened because the Deep State, Democrats, and the dishonest media were terrified of President Trump. Those responsible for this hoax must be held accountable. Full stop.”
In a separate post on July 23, Nehls criticized a plan by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to cull more than 450,000 barred owls over three decades at an estimated cost of $1.35 billion. He wrote: “Biden’s USFWS agency plan to kill 450,000+ barred owls, costing taxpayers $1.35 billion over the next 30 years, is a waste of taxpayer dollars. I introduced legislation to stop this Biden-era plan and protect American hard-earned tax dollars.”
Nehls has served as a member of Congress since replacing Pete Olson in 2021 and currently resides in Richmond after being born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in 1968. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Liberty University.
