Congressman Troy E. Nehls, representing Texas’ 22nd district, has recently shared a series of tweets expressing his views on the current situation in Los Angeles, California. Nehls, who succeeded Pete Olson in 2021 and holds a BA from Liberty University, has been vocal about his stance on law enforcement and immigration issues.

On June 8, 2025, Nehls posted about the state of affairs in Los Angeles. He described the city as “Democrat-run” and highlighted what he perceives as chaos in the streets. “Foreign flags waved in the streets. Law enforcement officers are being attacked. Utter chaos.” He attributed these events to what he calls the “Biden-Harris border crisis,” while expressing relief over having a President who supports law and order.

The following day, on June 9, 2025, Nehls questioned the characterization of recent events as peaceful with a rhetorical question: “Does this look ‘overwhelmingly peaceful’ to you?” The tweet included a link presumably showing footage or images related to his statement.

Later that same day, Nehls addressed actions taken by rioters in California involving American symbols. He stated: “Rioters in California burn and spit on the American flag. All the while waving foreign flags.” He concluded with an adage urging belief in people’s self-representations.

Troy Nehls was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and currently resides in Richmond at age 55.
