Congressman Troy E. Nehls, currently serving Texas’ 22nd district in the U.S. Congress, has been vocal on social media about various political and educational issues. Born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, in 1968, Nehls has represented his district since replacing Pete Olson in 2021.

On May 14, 2025, Congressman Nehls expressed his support for the Trump Administration amidst criticism from the Left. He stated on Twitter that “The Left is losing their minds. God bless the entire Trump Administration.”

The following day, May 15, 2025, Nehls announced a development concerning Brown University and student Alex Shieh. He tweeted that after sending a letter to the university urging them to reconsider disciplinary actions against Shieh, all charges were dismissed. Nehls congratulated Shieh by stating “GREAT NEWS: After I sent a letter to Brown University urging them to reconsider any disciplinary actions taken against student Alex Shieh, the university has dismissed all disciplinary charges against him. Congratulations, Alex!”

Later that same day, Congressman Nehls introduced legislative efforts aimed at enhancing American aerospace innovation. In his tweet he highlighted concerns with current FAA regulations and shared his initiative called the SAM Act which aims to permit supersonic flights under specific conditions. He noted “FAA regulations are restricting American innovation. I introduced the SAM Act, which directs the FAA to allow supersonic flight so long as no sonic boom reaches the ground.” This act is intended to maintain U.S leadership in next-generation aerospace technology.
