Congressman Troy E. Nehls, who has represented Texas’s 22nd congressional district since his initial election victory in 2020, posted a series of tweets on September 10, 2025, addressing immigration enforcement and public safety incidents.
In one post from September 10, Nehls stated: “ICE Houston arrested 822 illegal aliens in SE Texas, including gangbangers, convicted murderers, and child predators. Joe Biden and his cronies let these bad hombres into our country and under President Trump, ICE is getting them out. Keep up the great work @ICEgov!”
Later that day, Nehls commented on the case of Kayla Hamilton: “Kayla Hamilton isn’t a ‘random dead person.’ She was a 20-year-old with her entire life ahead of her. Sadly, she was murdered by an MS-13 gang member. Jasmine Crockett’s comments are disgraceful, and she should apologize to Kayla’s family immediately.” The tweet references public remarks made by Rep. Jasmine Crockett regarding Hamilton’s death.
In another message posted the same afternoon, Nehls wrote: “Please join me in for praying for @charliekirk11 and his entire family.”
Nehls has served as a U.S. Representative since winning his first general election against Sri Preston Kulkarni in 2020 with 51.5% of the vote. He retained his seat through subsequent elections—defeating Jamie Jordan in 2022 with over 62% of the vote and Marquette Greene-Scott in 2024 with a similar margin.
