Nehls has served as the representative for Texas’s 22nd district since winning his first election in 2020 against Sri Preston Kulkarni with approximately 51.5% of the vote. He was re-elected in subsequent cycles: in 2022 against Jamie Jordan with about 62.2% of the vote and again in 2024 against Marquette Greene-Scott with roughly 62.1%. These results have solidified his position within the district over multiple election cycles.
