Congressman Troy E. Nehls, a former law enforcement officer and Texas Sheriff, recently addressed issues related to law enforcement and immigration policy through a series of posts on his official social media account.

On January 8, 2026, Nehls issued a warning to individuals obstructing federal law enforcement officials, stating: “As a former law enforcement officer and Texas Sheriff, this is my warning to those who are obstructing federal law enforcement officials: Comply with law enforcement’s orders. If you don’t, you will face the consequences.”

Later that day, he commented on immigration policy with another post: “If an alien will be a drain on critical resources that Americans fall back on during hard times, they shouldn’t be admissible. My new bill protects American taxpayers, discourages benefit-seeking immigration, and restores the fundamental requirement that individuals seeking the”.

On January 9, 2026, Nehls marked National Law Enforcement Day by expressing gratitude to law enforcement personnel: “On National Law Enforcement Day, we thank the brave men and women who serve and protect our communities. As a former law enforcement officer and Sheriff, I know firsthand the sacrifice this job demands. Thank you for all that you do! Today and always, I will back the blue.”

Nehls has represented his district in Congress since defeating Sri Preston Kulkarni in 2020 with 51.5% of the vote. He secured re-election in subsequent cycles by wider margins—defeating Jamie Jordan in 2022 with 62.2% of the vote and Marquette Greene-Scott in 2024 with 62.1%.
