Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo was forced to work from home as she underwent self-quarantine after potentially becoming exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

Although she tested negative, she committed to staying at home for 14 days per CDC guidelines, she announced on June 30 on her Twitter account.

Hidalgo said she had potentially been exposed through a member of the county court staff. That person was confirmed positive and began self-isolation. Other members of her staff were also potentially exposed.

The exposure came as Harris County was set at Threat Level 1, which is the highest level for the coronavirus. Hidalgo, who extended the county mask order at the beginning of July, asked people to stay at home except for essential activities in her news release.
