The City of Richmond is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2020 tax year.
Because the proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate, the City of Richmond is not required to hold an election where voters can accept or reject the tax rate. To express support for or opposition to the proposed increase, contact members of the City Commission of the City of Richmond at their offices or attend the public hearing.
Property taxes can be calculated by multiplying the tax rate by the taxable value of your property and dividing that number by 100. The proposed tax rate is $0.687772 per $100, up from the no-new revenue tax rate of $0.665283 per $100 and lower than the voter-approval tax rate of $0.687773 per $100.
A public hearing on the proposed increase will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 at 600 Morton St. in Richmond.
