There were 65 African American students enrolled in Houston Classical Charter School District in the 2021-22 school year, 225% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Houston Classical Charter School District welcomed 131 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 49.6% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Houston Classical Charter School District roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Houston Classical was the only school in the district which enrolled African American students, welcoming 65 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
