Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 35.1% of Houston Classical Charter School District's student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 46 Hispanic students enrolled in Houston Classical Charter School District in the 2021-22 school year, 58.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Houston Classical Charter School District welcomed 131 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 35.1% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Houston Classical Charter School District roughly covers schools within Harris County and has a main office in Houston.

Houston Classical was the only school in the district which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming 46 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
