Congressman Troy E. Nehls, who represents Texas' 22nd District, shared thoughts on recent economic developments in a series of tweets. Nehls, age 55, was born in Wisconsin and is a graduate of Liberty University. He took office in 2021, succeeding Pete Olson.
On April 4, 2025, Nehls tweeted "228,000 jobs were added in March." He noted that this figure exceeded economists' predictions by nearly 100,000 jobs, attributing the growth to advancements made possible by President Trump's economic policies.
Later the same day, Nehls posted a brief tweet referring to President Trump’s negotiation skills, "The Art of the Deal in action." This appears to reference success attributed to the economic agenda put forth by the Trump administration.
In another tweet posted the afternoon of April 4, Nehls addressed concerns within the U.S. shrimping industry. He wrote "US shrimpers have been struggling to stay afloat due to an excess of foreign shrimp flooding our markets." He supports tariffs instituted by President Trump that aim to protect domestic shrimpers. Moreover, Nehls has reintroduced legislation designed to cease financial support to international financial institutions that fund foreign shrimping operations.
