CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE: Food Waste Drop-Off Program

City of West University Place issued the following announcement.

At last Saturday's Food Waste Drop-Off event we collected over 3,700lbs of food waste! Begin collecting your food waste in a reusable container and join us this Saturday, December 12th at the Public Works Maintenance Yard from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The City of West University Place has partnered with Zero Waste Houston to implement a food waste/food scrap drop-off pilot program at no cost to residents. This program will be held every Saturday through January 23. This is for West U residents only and proof of residency will be required. 

LOCATION: Public Works Maintenance Yard - 3826 Milton St.

DROP-OFF TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The following items are accepted: Bones, bread/grains, coffee grounds, dairy, egg shells, fried food, freezer-burned food, fruit, meat, vegetarian pet bedding, wood ash, tea bags (staples removed), compostable service ware, compostable bags, compostable cups, coffee filters, fur/hair, newspaper, flowers, paper napkins/towels, molded food, nuts/seeds, seafood/shells, and vegetables. 

The following items are not accepted: Glass, Styrofoam, plastic or plastic wrapping, metal, animal excrement, diapers, twist ties, and produce stickers.
