CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE: Food Waste Drop-Off Program

City of West University Place issued the following announcement.

We are officially halfway through our eight week Food Waste Drop-Off Pilot Program! To date, more than 200 West U households have diverted over 11,305lbs of food waste from the landfill. The program is set to continue through Saturday, January 23rd. Begin collecting your food waste and join us this Saturday, January 9th, 16th, and 23rd, at the Public Works Maintenance Yard from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM! Residents can bring food waste/scraps in any container from which they can easily discard their food waste. For more information visit, www.westutx.gov/specialevents or contact Recycle@WestUTX.Gov. 

The following items are accepted: Bones, bread/grains, coffee grounds, dairy, egg shells, fried food, freezer-burned food, fruit, meat, vegetarian pet bedding, wood ash, tea bags (staples removed), compostable service ware, compostable bags, compostable cups, coffee filters, fur/hair, newspaper, flowers, paper napkins/towels, molded food, nuts/seeds, seafood/shells, and vegetables.

The following items are not accepted: Glass, Styrofoam, plastic or plastic wrapping, metal, animal excrement, diapers, twist ties, and produce stickers.
