This year's City of Houston's signature Fourth of July celebration could not have been more spectacular.
An estimated crowd of over 50,000 flocked into Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston Parks along Allen Parkway to enjoy the festivities.
Headlining acts such as Chris Young, Yola, TMF, and more delivered amazing live concerts, making this event as big as Texas. Chris Young took the stage and performed a hit-packed set that included his 12 chart-toppers such as "Losing Sleep," "Sober Saturday Night," "Think of You," and "I'm Comin' Over."
The evening ended with a delightful 19-minute fireworks show that illuminated downtown Houston's sky.
The 2023 Shell Freedom Over Texas marked Mayor Sylvester Turner's last official 4th of July celebration in office.
"With over six hours of entertainment, Houstonians were able to enjoy family-friendly activities and make long-lasting memories," said Mayor Sylvester Turner. "This year's event will be memorable for several reasons, including the extended fireworks show. I am grateful for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and our sponsors because this would not have been possible without them. This event to have turned out wonderfully means a lot, and I achieved my goal of going out with a bang."
