His comments touched on border security measures implemented by former President Donald Trump, the fulfillment of campaign promises, and proposed legislation in response to a tragic incident involving an illegal immigrant.

On January 21, 2025, Congressman Nehls tweeted about actions taken by former President Trump to "Make America Great Again," highlighting initiatives such as the resumption of border wall construction and ending catch-and-release policies. He stated: "President Trump has already taken action to Make America Great Again: Resume construction of border wall End catch and release Reinstate Remain in Mexico Designate cartels as foreign terrorist organizations It’s a new day in America!"

In a brief tweet posted on January 22, 2025, Congressman Nehls emphasized the fulfillment of promises made during Trump's presidency with the statement: "Promises made, promises kept."

Later that day, Congressman Nehls addressed the murder of Jocelyn Nungaray by two illegal aliens. He expressed urgency for legislative action through the Justice for Jocelyn Act aimed at improving detention and tracking systems for illegal immigrants. On January 22, he wrote: "12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was brutally murdered by two illegal aliens. Her death was entirely preventable. The Justice for Jocelyn Act would improve the detention and tracking of illegal aliens entering the US. Congress must pass this bill ASAP."
