On January 27, 2025, Congressman Nehls criticized Selena Gomez for her emotional response to the deportation of illegal aliens. He questioned her silence regarding the murders of Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley by illegal aliens. "Selena Gomez is crying about illegal aliens being deported. Where were her tears when 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was brutally murdered by two illegal aliens? Where were her tears when Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal alien? Shameful."
On January 28, 2025, he congratulated Sean Duffy and expressed his eagerness to collaborate with him under the slogan "Make America Great Again." "Congratulations, @SeanDuffyWI! I look forward to working with you. Let’s Make America Great Again."
