Congressman Troy E. Nehls, representing Texas’ 22nd district since 2021, has recently expressed his views on several issues through a series of tweets. Born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and currently residing in Richmond, Nehls has been vocal about matters of public safety and federal employment practices.
On January 31, 2025, Congressman Nehls addressed a plane crash incident in Washington D.C., calling for increased congressional oversight. He stated: "Rep. Troy Nehls calls for congressional oversight following DC plane crash”.
Later that day, he commented on the federal government's hiring practices. He tweeted: "We must root out DEI in the federal government. We must return to merit-based hiring. Period."
On February 1, 2025, Nehls responded to another aviation incident occurring in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He expressed gratitude towards emergency personnel and extended his prayers to those affected by stating: "I’m monitoring the plane crash in Philadelphia, PA... my prayers are with those affected."
