On April 20, 2025, Nehls conveyed a religious message and Easter greeting alongside his family. The following day, he critiqued the Democratic Party's stance on immigration, questioning their intentions about immigration policy involving gang affiliates. He also acknowledged a historical event significant to Texas' history, highlighting the state's military triumph almost two centuries ago.

On April 21, 2025, Nehls addressed his concerns with a post about Democratic lawmakers, referencing their trip to El Salvador. He expressed criticism, aiming to prompt reflection with his question: "Why do Democrats want to bring violent illegal aliens back to our country?".

Later the same day, he commemorated Texas’ historic Battle of San Jacinto from April 21, 1836. Nehls celebrated the decisive victory in a tweet: "On this day in 1836, Texas won the Battle of San Jacinto in just 18 minutes, securing Texas’ independence from Mexico. Happy San Jacinto Day!"

Troy Nehls has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021, following his predecessor Pete Olson. He represents Texas' 22nd district. Nehls, who lives in Richmond, Texas, was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, in 1968. He holds a BA degree from Liberty University.
